Simple Tips For Hand Care in Winter

Season changes always affect our skin. Winter time can be especially harsh on the skin – our hands in particular. Here are a few tips of how to take care of your hands during those cold winter days.
1. Use a good cream.
Moisture loss is the biggest problem in winter time. Even washing your hands with soap makes your skin dry out up to 25 percent.
In order to protect your skin use a hand cream. The best hand cream is based on wax or vaseline. You could even literally rub beeswax, honey and vaseline on your hands. Leave the cream on your hands for some time to absorb. You will be surprised how quickly your skin absorbs all the cream!
It’s also good to use natural soaps and avoid soaps that contain sulfates!
2. Make the cuticles of your nails softer.
Dry skin around your nails can become a real nuisance. Of course, it turns into cuticles which are a real pain. Therefore, it is best to remove excess cuticles in good time.
To remove cuticles, rub hand cream or olive oil on the skin around your nails. When the skin is tender, take scissors and cut off everything that’s protruding. Put some oil on a cue tip and push the skin near your nail towards the root of the nail. Do this once a week.
3. Strengthen your nails.
Nails that break easily are usually an indicator of a poor diet or some other imbalance in the body. They may also be a sign that you don’t use good nail polish. Be sure to avoid nail polish that contains toluene, and formaldehyde and dibutyl ftalate. All of these substances weaken the nails and so they break easily.
4. Use sun cream.
Although with all the clouds, fog, rain and snow we can hardly imagine the sun, you should know that hands are first to feel the impact of the winter rays of sunshine. Remember to put on sun screen when going out in the sun even in winter time as the sun contributes to skin aging.
It is important to protect your hands even in the winter. If you follow the advice above, you will go a long way towards having healthy and young looking hands even as you get older.
