Top 10 Dating Tips
None of us are dating experts – if we were we would all have supermodels lined up waiting to date us every day. And no, it’s not all about your looks.
Dating takes a blend of skill, work and luck to work but there are things you can do to make sure you are prepared for a date and that you are considered “dateable” material.
Look your best
Get into the habit of looking your best. Join a gym and eat healthy – it won’t only lead to you looking more attractive but will also lead to better health.
Personal grooming
There is nothing worse then bad breath or BO. Brush your teeth regularly and take frequent showers. Simple things like neatly trimmed fingernails will also be noticed by a potential partner.
Address your dress sense
Stop walking around in old slacks and worn out sneakers as that simply is not attractive. If necessary, treat yourself to a shopping spree to get your image right. Don’t go overboard and wear something that does not suit you – engage your friends for advice if necessary.
Determine your dating aims
Make sure you understand what you aim to get from dating. Are you looking for potential long-term partners? Are you looking for casual friendship? It is a lot easier to decide the direction of a relationship when you know what you want.
Socialize
Join social clubs, sports clubs, drama clubs or any other social venues where you might have an opportunity to meet potential partners. It’s an old saying, but it’s true: you won’t meet anyone staying indoors.
Be communicative, confident and friendly.
It’s a universal fact, both guys and girls like confidence. If you close yourself in a shell you are not very likely to attract anyone. In the case of meeting people, misery really does not like company. Be friendly, communicative and confident. Make yourself approachable.
Don’t be pushy
People like mystery. Don’t make yourself too available and don’t be pushy. There is nothing worse than calling someone multiple times of day to just say hi. Give people some breathing space and you will find you will be rewarded in the long run.
Plan and think ahead
Planning can go a long way towards impressing a date. A simple phone call to the restaurant where you will meet your date to arrange some flowers or a special bottle of wine can work wonders. Don’t go overboard though as noone likes a control freak.
Be realistic with your aims
Be realistic with who you direct your attentions to. Look at what you offer objectively – consider your personality and physical traits and pick a potential date accordingly. If you are aiming to date the glamour girl or boy be prepared for rejection as it does occasionally happen.
And Finally… Enjoy yourself
In your quest to become the perfect date you may forget one thing – the whole point of dating is to have fun and meet new people. If you forget this fundamental fact and work too hard you may in fact come across as needy and not spontaneous. Enjoy yourself and relax. Show your date you are comfortable with who you are.
Have fun!
